Fire Ant Control
One call to AJ Southwest can take care of all of your fire ant problems – the natural way! Fire ants live in huge colonies that are not affected by normal spraying or cheap granules, and killing the queen is the only way to eliminate the colonies.
We use dried molasses at 20 pounds per 1000 square feet over the entire yard. We treat individual active mounds with a drench product made of rosemary and wintergreen Oil (Eco IC). We mix one ounce Eco IC and two ounces of non-ionic surfactant (e.g., Thoroughbred) to one gallon of water. Approximately one to three gallons of solution is used per mound.
After the mound dries, we treat each individual mound with abemectin (Ascend Fire Ant Bait). However, we do not recommend broadcasting abemectin over the entire yard. If a mound resurfaces, we treat it again with the ECO IC drench product.
For more heavily infested areas, we can apply Over 'n Out, a low-impact biological, and then begin all-natural applications once the ant population is under control.
AJ Southwest can also help with termites and carpenter ants. If you’re having problems with any of these pests, contact us today.
