Other Landscape Maintenance Services
In addition to organic fertilization, AJ Southwest Landscape Maintenance can benefit your lawn, trees, and shrubs in several other ways. Contact us to receive a free estimate for any of these services.
Lawn leveling. Many lawns are installed in a hurry, and as a result they are less than level. Through our lawn leveling service, we first spread 1/2 inch to one inch of premium soil mix, which is a mixture of compost and sand. Then we hand-level the mixture, creating a much smoother and even lawn. This service not only levels your lawn, but adds more organic matter to the soil. Call us for an estimate.
Root zone fertilization. If your trees and shrubs are slow-growing, color deficient, or prone to insects and fungus, root zone fertilization can facilitate growth, beauty, and strength. Even if your trees seem strong, root zone fertilization can further enhance their health and value. The optimal time to perform root zone fertilization is January and February. We inject organic fertilizer and microbial stimulants six to eight inches below the surface over the entire root zone. The cost is $.59 per square foot of root zone area, with a $99 minimum.
Hardwood mulch installation. Mulch is an excellent addition to landscapes and bedding areas for several reasons. It’s an inexpensive and easy way to save water, insulate plant roots from heat and cold, and stop erosion. The best type of mulch is the shredded variety, because it stays in place through windy and rainy conditions even on an incline. Our shredded hardwood and cedar mulch comes from a local source. Let us deliver to your front door or install it for you.
Horticultural oil application. Horticultural oil applications are quite effective against "over wintering" insect pests on trees and shrubs. Many early-season pest problems can be reduced with oil applications, which are performed once a year during the dormant season. Horticultural oil is especially effective against the various scale insect infestations we get in North Texas, and it can also help control fungus. The oil we use is very refined, with practically no odor. It is by far one of the safest products used in pest management.
CAUTION: Horticultural oil will kill bedding plants such as pansies, bluebonnets, and snapdragons. These plants must be covered and protected while spraying.
