Premium Soil Mix
- Composition: 60% compost, 40% cushion sand – all screened for consistency.
- Advantages: High nutrient content, light for easy handling, retains correct amount of moisture, drains well, no weed seeds, ready to plant.
- Best uses: Building raised flowerbeds or gardens, leveling or building up yard, new flowerbeds, potted plants.
- Special notes: Fertilizer must be added at recommended intervals. Never dig a hole in clay soil and fill it with any porous soil like our mix. Tilling premium soil mix in with the existing soil may give plants an added boost.
Lava Sand Mix
- Composition: 60% compost, 30% cushion sand, 10% lava sand – all screened for consistency.
- Advantages: Excellent for nutrient exchange from soil to plants, high nutrient content, light for easy handling, retains correct amount of moisture, drains well, no weed seeds, ready to plant.
- Best uses: Building raised flowerbeds or gardens, leveling or building up yard, new flowerbeds or garden, potted plants.
- Special notes: Fertilizer must be added at recommended intervals. Never dig a hole in clay soil and fill it with any porous soil like our mix. Tilling lava sand mix in with the existing soil may give plants an added boost.
Compost:
- Composition: Derived primarily from wood, beer, wine, liquor, and soda pop.
- Advantages: High nutrient content, light for easy handling, adds organic matter and airy texture to soils, helps earth worms thrive, adds microorganisms to the soil, helps buffer pH of soils.
- Best uses: Making gardens and flowerbeds, as a top-dressing in beds to gradually increase organic matter, rejuvenating lawn through application following aeration.
- Special notes: Should be tilled in with existing soil; you cannot plant directly in compost. Compost does not replace recommended fertilization.
Native Tree Mulch
- Composition: Area native trees.
- Advantages: Retains soil moisture, retards weed growth, breaks down over time to deliver nutrients and hummus to the soil. Provides a natural forest floor since it is made from native trees.
- Best uses: Flowerbed and garden top dressing 2-3 inches deep, helps prevent soil erosion, gives flowerbeds a manicured look.
- Special notes: Do not mix it into the soil – use as a top dressing only.
